Reverie Books is a tiny store with limited staff capacity, but community building is still an important part of our mission. We offer a few openings for author events each month. All events are promoted through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, the newsletter, and are on our website. Options are as follows:
- In-store signing during normal business hours. Authors who have their books stocked or on consignment with Reverie are welcome and encouraged to book a simple in-store signing without a reading, which allows the store to operate as usual. Visiting authors are welcome to pitch their book through the usual consignment channel. If accepted, an in-store signing is encouraged.
- In-store event including a reading during normal business hours. This option functionally shuts down regular operation and includes moving shelves around to make space. Authors who have their books stocked or on consignment with Reverie may hold this kind of an event for a fee of $50.
- BRING A CHAIR Hybrid in-store/ parking lot reading during normal business hours. This option does not shut the store to regular business but interferes with parking, is weather-dependent and involves staff pulling a fairly heavy PA out of the closet and rigging it up. Authors who have their books stocked or on consignment with Reverie may hold this kind of an event for a fee of $50.
- After hours either BRING A CHAIR parking lot or in-store event/reading/cocktail hour (usually 7-8pm or 7-9pm). This option does not shut the store to regular business but involves extra staffing. Authors who have their books stocked or on consignment with Reverie may hold this kind of an event for a fee of $100.
- For events that are likely to pull >30 people, it is possible to set up a larger event in partnership with the venue next door. These events are typically midweek evening or, if on the weekend, mid-day. Fees, if any, are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
